A Warm-Up That Prepares You for the Session
A warm-up should prepare you for the movements and effort ahead. It does not need to become an exhausting workout before the planned training starts.
Raise activity gradually
Begin with an easy movement appropriate to your current capacity. The aim is to settle into the session and notice how you feel today, not to prove fitness in the first five minutes.
Rehearse the main movements
Use lighter versions of the first exercises and build towards the working demand. Practise relevant setup and range rather than adding unrelated drills because they look technical.
Adjust to the day
Recent illness, symptoms or unusual fatigue may change the plan. If a warm-up repeatedly fails to make an exercise tolerable, seek assessment and review the exercise rather than stretching harder indefinitely.
