Training Technology: What Is Worth Tracking?
A tracker is useful when its information changes a sensible training decision. Start with reliable observations before adding more dashboards.
Keep the basic log
Record the exercise, setup, load, repetitions and approximate effort. Include session attendance and short notes about unusual fatigue, sleep or symptoms so the numbers have context.
Treat device estimates as estimates
Wearable calorie, readiness and recovery scores depend on the device and its assumptions. They can prompt a conversation but should not override clear symptoms or automatically dictate food intake.
Protect the comparison
Use consistent methods and review trends. Constantly changing devices, tests or photo conditions can make normal noise look like meaningful progress or decline.
