Heat, Hydration, and Sodium: The Summer Performance Protocol
Hot conditions change the demands of training. Hydration planning works alongside heat acclimatisation, pacing, clothing and access to shade or cooling.
A practical starting point
Check the forecast, training duration and opportunities to drink. Use your usual tolerance and sweat-loss pattern to plan fluids with qualified support for demanding sessions.
What the evidence does not promise
Electrolytes do not make extreme heat safe. Stop and seek appropriate help for significant illness; avoid forced drinking or using cramps alone to estimate sodium needs.
How to make it useful for your training
Bring a short record of your sessions, food routine and the specific problem you want to solve. Anthony can help organise the training plan and general habits; a sports dietitian or clinician should manage individual supplement protocols and medical concerns.
